How to Define Your Values to Light Up Your Life



Are you living an abundant and fulfilling life? Or have you lost touch with your values and so you’re spinning a bit and feeling stuck?


What are your passions? What makes you feel free and fulfilled? What do you really enjoy doing? Has it been a while since you've asked yourself these questions?


Whatever lights you up, you could say is a value. For me, values means what’s most important and meaningful to you. Knowing your values guides your choices and helps you say yes or no to things and people in your life. Oxford uses a few words to describe values such as: important, useful, worthy, significance, desirable, beneficial and more.


So what do you value? What is important to you? If you’re unsure, you simply need to take some time and think about what you enjoy doing. Now I know for a fact that some of you have no problem identifying what you love, heck you might already be doing it. But for those of you who have been feeling a little lost and detached from one’s true desires, keep on reading, please.


See, there’s been so much stress, fear and head shaking drama and trauma in the last couple of years that it’s quite normal to still feel discouraged and a (little) numb. What is even more concerning is that a high percentage of humanity has lost touch from what brings them joy! For some people they could be lost in societal pressures, rules and expectations. For others it could be just not having a frickin’ clue what's important because they have been living life for others. Perhaps for other people’s approval, other’s validation and recognition and/or even for other’s company or reassurance. Ouch! Been there, done that and nooooo more!


When you live life on autopilot because you are feeling numb or living your life for others, you are missing out! You miss feeling upbeat and grateful about life! You feel stress and anxiety instead of inner peace and self-assurance. You overthink and feel sorry for yourself and you miss out the opportunity to create the life that you want.


So back to figuring out your values. What haven’t you done in a while that you used to love or really enjoy? For me it was dancing and not to any music, (lol) but dancing to “club music” is my thing! Actually I think that’s what kept me sane during the pandemic lockdowns. Going on Twitch subscribing to DJ’s streaming live from their home, watching DJ’s on Youtube performing around the world through Cercle and dancing alone in my office while my son was gaming with his buddies! 😅Dancing, music, walking in nature, creating wellbeing programs, going to a restaurant with my honey, and boating are some of the things that light me up!


So, do you know what you value? What’s important to you? What lights you up?
